Akhnoor, other tehsil tournament of JKCA | Singh Club Akhnoor wins by 29 runs

JAMMU: Singh Club Akhnoor today registered a 29 runs victory against Singh Challengar Akhnoor in the ongoing Tehsil Akhnoor Tournament for JKCA Premier Cricket Championship at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.

Earlier, batting first, Singh Club set a target of 169 for six in allotted 20 overs. Sunil played fine innings of 57 (off 36 balls) while Pankaj contributed 27 runs and both these batsmen remained unbeaten. Sunny Kumar and Manik contributed 17 runs each. From Singh Challenger, Manik claimed three wickets while Aryan took two.

In reply, Singh Challenger could not chase and target and conceded the defeat at 140 for nine in 19.2 overs. Manav scored half century (50 off 31 balls) while Aryan and Stephen contributed 19 and 18 runs respectively. From Singh Club, Bardhav and Harsh shared three wickets each. Sunil was later declared man of the match.

In all, 17 teams are taking part in this knock-out event with an aim to extend opportunity to the talent stuff to prove themselves. Earlier, before today's scheduled match, Jang Bahadhur Singh Jamwal interacted with the teams and advised them to take full advantage of the chance given to them by the JKCA.

Also present were other members of the organising committee for District Jammu and Tehsil Akhnoor tournaments were Rajesh Gill, Rajesh Dhar, Vijay Sharma, Harsh Nayyar, Vijay Saberwal, Sachin Sharma.

RAMBAN: Rising Sports Banihal outplayed Tiger XI Tethar to strengthen their position in the ongoing district tournament for district Banihal at venue II of Boys Higher Secondary School Banihal.

Batting first, Rising Sports made 180 runs losing all their wickets in 20 overs, which, in reply, Tiger XI could not chase and bowled out for 102 runs in 10 overs. In today's match, SDM Banihal, Zaheer Abbas Bhat and Tehsildar Banihal, Shafiq Ahmed were special guests, who interacted with the teams and officials.

RAJOURI: Youngster XI Rajouri today registered clinched the thriller when they beat XI Star Cricket Club by a wafer thin margin of one run at District Police Lines ground, here. Batting first, Youngster XI made a team effort setting a huge target of 234 for eight wickets in 30 overs.

Sachdev Singh (50), Ritesh Dev Singh (34) and Kaishav Singh (40) were the main scorers. In reply, XI Star could not attain the goal despite brilliant century from Sahil Sharma, who made 105 runs off 61 deliveries hitting nine sixes and six boundaries. Later Keshav Singh was named man of the match for his all round performance of 40 runs and four wickets.
