On Day 2 of FIFA World Cup 2018, Google doodle features 6 nations

NEW DELHI: Friday's Google doodles feature art from the six countries that will be clashing at various destinations in Russia.

At 5.30 pm (IST) Egypt will be up against Uruguay followed by the Morocco vs Iran match at 8.30 pm, and the all-important Portugal vs Spain match at 11.30 pm.

“This year's Doodle series celebrates the rich cultures and talent of all 32 participating countries by featuring guest artists hailing from each nation,” Google said in a blog post on Thursday.

The search engine giant plans to release doodles each day until the FIFA World Cup final on July 15.

The artists worked on the theme “What does football mean in your country?”

“It is the soul of the people in Egypt!,” said Shennawy, whose doodle features a bunch of boys playing football on a busy shop street.

If Rashin Kheiriyeh has blended Persian art with Iran's football craze in his doodle, Moroccan lions indulge in a game in Annasi Mehdi's work.

Friday's featured artists also include Portugal's Tiago Galo, Spain's Andres Lozano, and Uruguay's Macarena Campos.
