KCCC, Blue Star enter U-16 semis in JKCA Cricket

JAMMU: The KC Cricket Club (KCCC) and Blue Star today qualified for the semifinals of the under-16 boys' event which is part of the ongoing JKCA Premier Cricket Championship at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.

In the quarterfinals, KCCC outplayed Laxhmi Cricket Club by 43 runs. Batting first, after winning the toss, KCCC made 160 runs for the loss of eight wickets in allotted 23 overs a side game. Akshit played superb innings of 85 (off 56 balls, 12x4, 1x6) while Abhey Tandon contributed 21.

From Laxhmi Club, Rahil bagged two wickets while Dhruv Pramar, Madhav, Dhruv Gupta, Jugjap and Shray shared apiece each.

In reply, Laxhmi Club bowled out for 117 runs in 19.4 overs. Dhruv Parmar hit half century with 30-ball 55 studded with six fours and four boundaries. Youvraj added 16. Nityam Abrol emerged as most successful bowler with three for 29 in five overs. Aaquib took two for four in four overs and Sparsh cinched two for 18 in 1.4 overs.

Meanwhile, in other quarterfinal, Blue Star trounced Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy by seven wickets. Batting first, Mayank Academy scored 106 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs match.

Tejas and Chandan contributed 17 runs each. From Blue Star, Mahadev, Aryan and Shah Raja shared two wickets each.

Batting second, Blue Star attained the goal making 109 runs for three wickets in 11.3 overs. Chitwan played brilliant match winning innings of 66 runs while Harpreet contributed 24. Navneer claimed one wicket.

Later, for his match winning knock, Chitwan was declared man of the match. Sadiq Hussain Malik and Ravi Manchanda were umpires in both the matches.

KATHUA: Shivam XI registered a big 90 runs win against Gagan XI in the district Kathua championship underway at Sports Stadium, here. Batting first, Shivam XI lost all their wickets for 210 runs in 29.4 overs of the 30 overs game.

Rajesh remained top scorer with 61-ball 75 runs while Shivam contributed 58-ball 71 runs. From Gagan XI, Shubham bowled brilliant spell taking away five wickets for 29 runs in five overs while Monu took two for 36.

Later, Gagan XI could not chase the target and bundled out for 120 runs in 21.5 overs. Monu and Raina were main scorers with 37 and 26 runs respectively. From Shivam XI, Sanjay claimed four wickets and Manoj clinched three. Dheerajand Ricky were umpires while Kulbhushan Singh maintained the scorecard.
