Eleven Star wins by 68 runs in Kathua Cricket

JAMMU: Eleven Star Kathua defeated Balahar Cricket Club (BCC) by a comfortable margin of 68 runs to move into the next round of the ongoing district Kathua cricket tournament, organised by JKCA at Sports Stadium, here today.

Earlier, Eleven Star won the toss and batting first set a target of 225 runs losing five wickets in given 30 overs. Anshu made superb 87 off 79 deliveries with 12 hits to the fence while Aditya contributed 30-ball 38 runs. From Balahar Club, Manik, Lucky and Rohit took one wicket each.

Batting second, Balahar Club could not control their nerves and surrendered to the calculated opponent bowling, especially the spell from Aidtya and lost all their wickets for 157 runs in 23.3 overs. Dalip and Lucky were main scorers with 32 (not out) and 18 runs in their respective accounts. From Eleven Star, Aditya bowled deadly spell taking away five wickets for 26 runs in six overs. Abhey and Rishav shared two each.

SAMBA: Meanwhile, in the Samba district cricket tournament, Samba XI outplayed Border Cricket Club by 52 runs at Pandit Prem Nath Dogra gorund, Smailpur, here today. Batting first, Samba XI bowled out for 177 in 19 overs of the 20 overs game. In reply, Border Club could not chase the total and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 125 runs losing nine wickets.
