Purani Poonch Tigers win opening Cricket tie

POONCH: Purani Poonch Tigers made it a fine seven wickets win against Power House Cricket Club in the inaugural match of the JKCA Premier championship of district Poonch started today at Sports Stadium, here.

Batting first, after winning the toss, Power House lost all their wickets for 166 runs in 36.4 overs. Sourav made highest 31 runs while Sunny (28), Manik (23) and Nikhil (21) were other main contributors to the total. From Purani Poonch, Amit and Deepu shared three wickets each.

In reply, Purani Poonch attained the target of 167 runs in 25 overs, courtesy fine innings from Raka and Aman, who contributed 45 and 43 runs respectively. Ankit (18) and Sidhu (16) remained unbeaten). From Power House, Nikhil claimed three wickets and Akash bagged one.
Later, Raka of winners Purani Poonch named man of the match. Rajinder Singh Toofan and Rajneesh Maini were umpired in the opening match while Shabbir maintained the scorecard.

Earlier, the event was declared open by the chief guest, SSP Poonch, Rajiv Pandey in the presence of Ravi Sharma (chief selector - Poonch Selection Committee) and Manish Angral (JKCA representative).

In all, 24 top teams of the district including those from Mandi, Mendhar, Surankote, Guntrian and Ajote are taking part in this knock-out event. It will during this competition that the Selection Committee Poonch, headed by Ravi Sharma (chief selector) and Pawan Kumar Sharma (chairman, Selection Committee Poonch) shall consider the probable for district team.

Other present were Harcharan Singh, Prem Parkash, Sagar Sharma, Nazir Charak and Sujan Singh, Nirdosh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Nirender Singh, Sanjay Misri, Nanak Singh, Pankaj Sharma, Gurvinder Singh, Sourav Sharma, Dr. B K Sharma, Parveez Malik, Ram Parkash, Imran Shah and Rajinder Singh.
