Jodhamal girls lift U-17 Basketball title

JAMMU: Jodhamal Public School clinched the under-17 girls Basketball trophy after they beat fighting Carmel Convent School 26-18 in the final of the inter-school competitions of district Jammu held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium here today.

Vaidhvi played a key role in Jodhamal victory contributing eight points to the team's tally. Amitoj Kour contributed six points. From Carmel Convent, the SAI STC day-boarding trainee, Anshita Sharma and Akriti Khullar contributed six and four points respectively.

Earlier, in the semifinals, Jodhamal beat MHAC Nagbani 10-08 while Carmel Convent outplayed APS Ratnuchak 10-09. In a preliminary round match, APS Ratnuchak beat APS Sunjwan 16-10.

Meanwhile, in under-14 age group, Heritage Public School took away the title trophy outplaying Jodhamal Public School 11-05. In the semifinals, decided today, Jodhamal beat JK Public School by a margin of 10 points while Heritage defeated APS Sunjwan 17-11.

In girls Handball event, Presentation Convent School (PCS) clinched both under-14 and under-17 titles. While in under-14 category, PCS trounced Heritage Public School by four goals, in under-17 age group, PCS defeated St. Peters School BC Road by a margin of three goals.

The matches officiated by the technical penal including Om Parkash (ZPEO), Rita Devi, Gourav Sharma, Vikram Dogra, Aryan Gandotra, Sunny Dogra, Honey Mehra, Dheeraj, Rajesh Bandral, Amit Kalsi, Satika, Vaneet and Abhishekh.
