Carmel Convent wins U-19 girls Softball title

JAMMU: Carmel Convent School clinched the girls' under-17 Softball title outplaying Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Rehari 5-2 in the final of ongoing inter-school competitions of Jammu district, organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), at GGM Science College ground, here today.

Earlier, in the preliminary round, Carmel Convent beat Higher Secondary School (HSS) Paloura 4-3 while GHSS Rehari trounced GHSS Canal Road 3-2.

Earlier, the girls' competitions in the disciplines of Basketball, Softball and Throwball in two age groups of under-14 and under-17 declared open by district officer (DYSS) Jammu, Chanchal Kour at Basketball courts, MA Stadium, here.

The competition officiated by the technical penal including Vishal Bharti, Harvinder Sodi, Varinder, Rita Devi, Vikram Dogra, Sunny Dogra, Sanjay Khajuria, Honey Mehra, Aryan Gandotra.

BASKETBALL: Under-17: Jodhamal Public School bt Banyan International by 20 pts; JK Public School bt GD Goenka 23-02; MHAC Nagbani bt MIER by nine pts; APS Ratnuchak bt APS Domana by 17 pts; Jodhamal Public School bt SOS Herman School by 23 pts. Under-14: Jodhamal Public School bt Banyan International School 10-02; APS Ratnuchak bt GD Goenka 08-04; Jodhamal bt Carmel Convent 2-0; JK Public School bt SOS Gole Gujral by six pts.

THROWBALL: Under-17: MHAC bt Celestial Public School 2-0 (25-12, 25-18). Under-14: GD Goenka bt Celestial Public School 2-0 (25-18, 25-23).
