HSS Sawjian wins Volleyball title in Mandi Zone

POONCH: Government Higher Secondary School Sawjian bagged the boys' Volleyball title beating High School Bedar in straight sets in the final of the inter-school (under-17) competitions of Mandi zone held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at HSS (Boys) Mandi, here today.

The Kabaddi title went to hosts HSS Mandi, who beat HSS Loran by a margin of 10 points. Similarly, in girls Kabaddi final, HSS Mandi defeated HSS Sawjian by a margin of four points. The finals officiated by the technical penal including Rajinder Singh, Sukhbir Singh, Amrish Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Balbir Singh, Harmik Singh, Rajinder Singh, Jatinderpaul Sharma, Rajnish Maini and Shabir.

In the finals, Principal Girls HSS Mandi, Jagdev Singh was chief guest. Also present were principal HSS Boys Mandi, Rashpal Singh, Surinder Singh, Rajesh Sharma, Ranjit Singh and Rajinder Prasad.


Annual inter school competition of Kanuyian Zone got underway at Government High School Mangnar in the discipline of Kho Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball under 17 years boys and girls.

The competition declared open by the Headmaster High School Mangnar, Rattan Lal in a well attended function. He interacted with participating teams and other technical officials. The event is being held under the supervision of Zonal Officer (DYSS), Narjeet Singh.

Today's matches officiated by the technical panel comprising Narinder Kour, Sanjay Mishri, Balvinder Singh, Darshan Kour, Kuldeep Kumar, R S Toofan, DK Raina, Sukhvinder Singh, Rubina Baghyal, Waseem Akram, Rakesh Kumar and Neeraj Sharma.

The Results

BOYS: Kabaddi: H S Jhulas beat HS Khaneter by one point. Volleyball: HS kanuyian beat HS mangnar 2-0. Kho-Kho: HS Dara Dullian beat HS Kanuyian by three points.

GIRLS: Kabaddi HS Jhulas beat HS Mangnar by two points. Volleyball: H S Jhulas beat HS kanuyian 2-0. Kho Kho: HS Mangnar beat HS Jhulas by four points.


Meanwhile, in the inter-school competitions of Nangali zone held at Sports Stadium Poonch, High School Kalai beat High School Bandichaichan in under-17 Volleyball. The under-14 volleyball title went to High School Shapur, who beat High School Kalai in the final. The competition held under the supervision of Zonal Officer (DYSS), Mohd Qasim. Among those present in the finals were Nazarat, Shafqat Shah, Jhangir Hussain, Narinder Singh, Kulwant, Avatar Singh and Davinder Singh.
