Boys Handball, Basketball meet of Jammu begins

JAMMU: Annual inter-school competitions for boys under-14 and under-17 age groups in the disciplines of Basketball, Handball and Throwball of Jammu district started today at different venues, here under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS).

Around 457 boys drawn across from 14 zones of Jammu district are taking part in the sports meet under the guidance of district officer (DYSS), Chanchal Kour.

Earlier, preliminary round of the competition took place on the opening day today in all three events, a handout issued here today said.
Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Om Parkash, Vishal Bharti, Mousami, Mulkh Raj, sunny Dogra, Anil Dogra, Vikram and Gourav.

The Results:

BASKETBALL: Under-17: St. Frances Akhnoor beat Army Public School (APS) Sunjwan 20 - 12 pts;

Sainik School Nagrota beat MIER 24-0 pts; Jodhamal Public School beat DPS 18-03 pts. Under-14: Sainik School Nagrota beat APS Domana 19 -04 pts; Jodhamal Public School beat APS Jammu Cantt. 6-4 pts.

THROWBALL: Under-17: KC International School beat Celestial Mission High School RS Pura 21-13.

HANDBALL: Under-17: Quarterfinals: Govt. High School Pull TAwi beat GHS City Chowk by 10 pts. Preliminary Round: Govt High School Citty Chowk beat St. Peters High School BC Road six goals (13-07); APS Domana beat Rainbow School seven goals; Tagore Memorial HSS beat Heritage four goals. UNDER-14: Heritage School beat St. Frances HSS Akhnoor by five goals.
