HS Sangrampur girls bag Volleyball titles

JAMMU: Government High School Sangrampur made it a double title win when the girls from the school clinched the Volleyball titles in under-14 and under-17 categories in the inter-school competitions of Marh Zone held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at GHSS Marh, near here today.

In the under-14 Volleyball final, High School Sangrampur beat GD Goenka School 2-0 while in under-17 cartegory, HS Sangrampur trounced MRLD 2-0.

Similarly, in Kabaddi, both under-14 and under-17 finals won by Middle School Akalpur. While in under-14 category, MS Akalpur beat MRLD 19-09, in under-17 age group, MS Akalpur defeated the same opponent in MRLD 30-24.

In Kho-Kho event, HS Shamachak beat HS Sangrampur 5-3 to bag the under-14 title while in under-17, HS Burjmandir downed MRLD 2-0.
The competition held under the guidance of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), Veena Tickoo.


Inter-school competitions of Jourian Zone concluded at Government Girls High School Jourian.

The Results: Under-14 Kabaddi: Govt HS Kaleeth beat Govt MS Muthi Maira by 15 points. Under-17 Kabaddi: High School Kaleeth beat Govt. Girls HS Jourian by 26 points. Under-14 Kho-Kho: Middle School Muthi Maira beat Govt. HS Kaleeth by two points. Under-17 Kho-Kho: HSS Pargwal beat Govt. HS Jourian by two points. Under-17 Volleyball: Govt. HSS Pargwal beat Govt. Girls HS Jourian in straight sets.

The matches officiated by the technical penal including Romesh Chander (PEM), Sham Singh (PEM), Ganesh Singh (PEM), Vijay Kumar (PEM), Promila Manhas (PEM), Devinder Singh, Sham Lal, Joginder Singh, Vijay Kumar and Ashwani Kumar (all PETs).


Meanwhile, the under-17 boys' Jammu Zone finals also decided in twin events of Kabaddi and Volleyball. In the finals, Principal, Bhartiya Shiksha Samiti, Reenu Rajput was chief guest, who interacted with the finalist teams.

Earlier, in the Kabaddi final, hosts Bhartiya Vidya Mandir defeated Jagriti Mission 27-10. Earlier, in the semifinals, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir beat SRML Higher Secondary School 26-22 while Jagriti Mission trounced Tiny Tots 26-25 by a close margin of one point.

Similarly, in Volleyball, GHSS Muthi outplayed SOS in straight sets to claim the title. The competition supervised by technical team comprising Tilak Raj, Vishal Singh Jamwal, Maha Dev Singh, Narinder Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Kamal Singh, Harjot Kaur, Tilak Parihar, Mokshe Bali and Neena.
