Former MLA meets Governor

JAMMU: Ashok Kumar, former MLA, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan.

Kumar requested Governor to intervene in various important matters of public interest which had failed to receive the required attention resulting in continuing lack of development in Ramban district. He demanded urgent release of funds for various infrastructural projects; uninterrupted electricity supply; motorable roads and bridges to connect remote areas; safe drinking water supply, strengthening of health care institutions and filling up of vacant posts in health centres and educational institutions; installation of mini hydroelectric projects along local streams; establishment of a KVK and a Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya at Ramban; interconnected railway network for towns of Ramban, Banihal, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar; direct elections for Sarpanches in Panchayat elections which must be held early.

Assuring support, Governor advised Kumar to continue his endeavours for promoting people's welfare in his district.
