Indian Kurash team bags 16 medals

JAMMU: Accompanied by the coach from Jammu and Kashmir, Varinder Sharma of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), the Indian Kurash team secured 16 medals in the recently held Xth Asian Senior Championship held at Pune in Maharashtra.

The Indian contingent won a gold, two silver and 13 bronze medals in various weight categories of men and women thereby clinched the overall third position.

Other participating teams were from Vietnam, Uzbegistan, Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipie, Bangladesh, Iran, Koreia, Thiland and Sri Lanka.

The Medal Winners: Gold: Tulika Maan. Silver: Harpreet Kaur and Vikas Kharab. Bronze: Rahul, Rohit, Jitin Kumar, Hritik Solanki, Parshant Kumar, Mathew Poorva Kanjira, Anita Tammanna Tukkar, Malaprabha Yallappa Jadhav, Pincky Balhara, Pratishtha Malhotra, Jyoti Tokas and Nausheen Quadri.

Besides Varinder Sharma, the team was accompanied by Sukhwinder Kaur Saini as women coach.
