Stadium XI wins boys, girls Hockey titles

POONCH: Stadium XI bagged both boys and girls titles respectively in the District Hockey Championship which was organised by Hockey Poonch at Sports Stadium, here today.

In boys final, Stadium XI defeated Royal Club 3-0 in a one-sided contest. The opening goal came through Akash in the 25th minute, followed by two goals from the stick of Rudhar in the 35th and 48th minute.

Similarly, in girls section, the title trophy again went to Stadium XI, who beat Power House Hockey Club 5-4 via tie-breaker. Earlier, in the stipulated time, the match ended in a goalless draw.

Meanwhile, in organisers also presented title trophy to winners of Sub-Junior boys event held in December last.

In the finals and prize distribution function, Colonel R J Narayan of 39 RR was chief guest, who gave away the title trophies. Dr Bhisham Dubey (DySP Operations) was guest of honour. Nirdosh Kumar (Manager Stadium), Prem Prakash Luthra and Madan Lal were special guests.

Among others present were Sanjeev Kumar, Dr BK Sharma, Matinder Pal Singh, Ravinder Singh, Mustaq Ahmed, Ram Prakash, Sourab Sharma and DK Raina.

Speaking to the gathering, the chief guest highlighted the contributions of hockey coach late Sham Lal Sharma, who died in a tragic road accident.

The finals officiated by the technical penal including Vikas Sharma, Harmik Singh, Vikas Raina, Saval Ahmed and Kavaldeep Singh.

This championship held under the technical supervision of hockey coach, Pawan Kumar.
