Despite being aware of the fact that this scheme can bring smiles on the faces of under-privileged families, the identification process undertaken by the Government through District Development Commissioners for this scheme left out deserving girls out of the whole scene. After careful consideration, the Government directed all the District Social Welfare Officers to conduct fresh surveys but you would be surprised to know that it has been more than a year yet the Social Welfare Department has made no progress in this matter.

The concerned department must understand the gravity of the matter and work on the preparation of lists so that the due benefit can reach its eligible beneficiaries. The indolent attitude of the Social Welfare Department towards this scheme has been disappointing so at least now, even after the directions given by the J&K High Court, they must pick up the pace of the identification process.
