DC Leh cancels licence of gun used for poaching

LEH: In a case of setting precedents right and acting tough on the violators of Wildlife Act, Deputy Commissioner Leh on Tuesday cancelled the licence of a gun used for poaching.

According to reports, DC cancelled the licence of a gun after concluding that person who was apprehended with the gun was out for hunting as he was unable to provide proper justification regarding his visit in that area along with a periscope gun.

On February 16, the Department of Wildlife caught suspicious persons with a Point-22 rifle with telescope near Choglamsar Bridge in a Santro car bearing registration No JK04B 0004 and handed them to the police alleging that the said persons were intending to poach wildlife near Sindhu Ghat where wildlife, including blue sheep, come down from the hills for water.

"Convinced by the above facts and further recommended by Wild Life Warden, Leh, the arms license No: L-135/Ladakh/08 and UIN 153010029070032016 was cancelled vide order no. JC-97(Misc) 2018(903) dated March 10, 2018," an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner Leh read.
