Khelo India's football tourney concludes in Poonch

POONCH: Two-day football tournament under Khelo India, sponsored by Government of India and organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), concluded at different zones of Mandi, Sathra, Surankote and Kanuyian, here today.

Mandi Zone: The final of girls' under-19 event in zone Mandi won by Government Higher Secondary School Mandi beating HSS Loran 1-0 at BSF Ground, Rajpura. Similarly, in under-16 category, the title again bagged by GHSS Mandi outplaying HSS Aiied Loran 2-1. In under-12 age group, Muqaddas Academy beat MS Mandi 1-0.

In boys category, the under-19 final won by HSS Mandi after they beat HSS Sawjian 2-0.

The under-16 title again secured by HSS Mandi beating HSS Sawjian 2-1. In under-12 boys event, Muqaddas Academy emerged winner beating HS Badachar 4-3.

Sathra Zone. The boys' under-12 final of Sathra zone won by Middle School Chakrara beating MS Jandrola at the same venue of BSF Ground. In under-17 age group, High School Saloonia beat High School Sathra 1-0. The under-19 title went to High School Sathra, who beat High School Biala 2-0. Similarly, in girls' under-19 age group, Sathra A beat High School Saloonia 3-0

Tehsildar Mandi, Abid Hussain and social activist, Molvi Fareed distributed prizes among the teams and encourage them to participate in games and sports. Other prominent present were Vipin Kumar (ZPEO Mandi), Surinder Singh (ZPEO Sathra), Pawan Kumar (PEL), Amrish Kumar (PEM), Balwinder Singh (PEM), Manjeet Singh (PEM), Zahid Sharief, Sunil Kumar, Vikas Raina, Harmik Singh, Rajneesh Maini, Pawandeep Singh, Rajinder Singh and Jatinderpaul (all PETs).

Kanuyian Zone: The boys' under-19 title won by HS Jhulas beating HS Mangnar 2-0 while under-16 title went to HS Jhulas, who beat HS Mangnar 2-0. In under-12 age group, MS Jhulas beat MS Bhainch 2-1. In girls section, HS Jhulas bagged the under-19 title while under-19 trophy went to HS Khaneter, who beat HS Dara Dullian 1-0 In under-12 category, MS Salotri beat HS Mangnar 3-2. The competition held under the overall supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Kanuyian, Narjeet Singh.
