Shaheen FC wins 4-2 in Dogra Memorial Football

JAMMU: Shaheen Football Club clinched the thriller 4-2 against Novelty FC Anantnag beating latter via tie-breaker in the 2nd Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Memorial Football Gold Cup, organised by State Sports Club at Mini Stadium, Parade, here today.

Earlier, in the stipulated time the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Shaheen took the first lead netting the ball in the 20th minute through Kamaljeet. However, the lead was equalised by Novelty with Naish beating the goalkeeper in the 51st minute.

The second match ended in walkover awarded in favour of Desh Bhagat University after professional side of Lone Star Srinagar failed to report the venue, the reason being engagements in the Indian League.

Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Rakesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Hilal Ahmad, Moon Stephen, Suresh Gupta, Rahul Sharma, Rinku Gill and Mohinder Kalsi (Physio).
