Khelo India Football by DYSS begins at Poonch

POONCH: Being organised for the first time, Khelo India's lets play football competition, under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), got underway at Poonch, Sathra and Mandi zones, here today.

At Poonch zone, the competition got underway at Government Boys Higher Secondary School with 12 teams in boys and six in girls section taking part. The event was declared open by Principal of the host school, Sudershan Sharma.

The competition held under the overall supervision of Hatinder Singh Tandon (ZPEO) and officiated by the technical penal comprising Kewal Krishan, Gurdev Singh, Kulwant Singh, Ravinder Bali, Jatinder Sharma, Davender Pal Singh, Veerta Sharma, Sunita Sharma and Rameez Tariq.

The Results: Panther Club-A beat Boys HSS Poonch 2-0 and in girls section, HSS Poonch trounced goals Guru Niwas School 3-0.

Similarly, the competition of Mandi and Sathra zones started at BSF Ground, Rajpura Mandi. Again 12 teams in three different age groups each are taking part from twin zones.

Earlier, the competition was opened by chief guest, Commandant 137 Battalion of the BSF Mandi, Gajraj Yadav. Prominent among others present were Principal boys HSS Mandi, Manjeet Singh Bali, Surinder Singh (ZPEO) Sathra, Vipin Kumar (ZPEO) Mandi, Amrish Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Manjeet Singh, Rajinder Singh, Jatinder Paul, Vikas Sharma and Pushpavathi Bali.
