Unique Public boys, KV 1 girls win Kabaddi titles

JAMMU: Unique Public School and Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) No. 1 Gandhi Nagar clinched boys and girls titles respectively in the Jammu District Kabaddi tournament concluded at Green Fields ground, here today.

In the boys' final, Unique Public defeated Vishav Bhartiya School by three points. Third place went to Deshmesh BV Mandir. Semifinals: Unique Public bt Deshmesh BV Mandir by 10 points and Vishav Bhartiya bt Nowabad by eight points. Quarterfinals: Unique Public bt Middle School R S Pura by 15 points; Deshmesh BV Mandir bt SOS Herman by five points; Vishav Bharti School bt Shiv Public School by 15 points; Nowabad School bt Bhartiya Shiksha Kendra by 12 points.

Similarly, in girls section, KV-1 outplayed Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar by five points. Third place secured by KV Bari Brahmna.

In the final and prize distribution function, Commandant General SDRF, Dilbag Singh was chief guest, who gave away the winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Member State Sports Council, Ranjit Kalra was guest of honour and president J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, Anil Gupta presided.

Earlier, speaking to the gathering, Association president, Anil Gupta announced cash awards worth Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 for the winner and runners-up teams respectively.
