J&K fencing team excels with 6 medals in School Games

JAMMU: Young Jammu and Kashmir fencers excelled with six medals won in the 63rd National School Games held at Nalgonda in Hyderabad. The state school teams took part in the event under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS).

The medal tally included two gold, one silver and three bronze. Majority of these medal winners have been trained and guided by the senior fencers and staffers of DYSS.

Earlier, Kritarthi Kotwal defeated an opponent from Manipur 15-10 to win gold for J&K in Sabre individual event of under-17 category. She won her semifinal game against CBSE School 15-07.

Another promising fencer, Manyak Sharma clinched individual silver beating his opponent from Maharashtra 15-14. He won his semifinal game against an opponent form IPSC 15-07.

Tanmay also won individual bronze for the state in Foil event of under-14 category.
