Shaping the sporting future of rural students

KATHUA: Unlike his other colleagues working in the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), a Physical Education Teacher (PET) has walked extra mile to shape the sporting career of those rural students of district Kathua.

A qualified judo player himself, Rajiv Kumar has been doing a great job in guiding those young budding talent to excel at the national level.

Recently, one of the Rajiv's trainees, Kartika Sharma performed exceptional well in the recently held 63rd National School Games at Delhi winning bronze medal in under-14 age group.

To guide those young rural talented stuff, Rajiv has opened a Martial arts training facility at village Chadwal in district Kathua and imparting coaching among students free of cost.

"During the last couple of years, I have trained around 100 young boys and girls in the disciploines of Judo and Hupkwando. This year alone, 15 students from my training facility have represented the state in the school games," informed Rajiv.
