Zulfkar greets people on Lohri

JAMMU: A function on the eve of Lohri was organized by Veenak Bazar Traders Association in which Minster for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasions of Lohri.

In his message of greeting, the minister observed that the festival is a tribute to the bounties of nature and a herald of change in winter moving towards spring.

Zulfkar prayed for the well-being and happiness of the people and wished that this festival would bring lasting peace and prosperity of the State. He said in a multicultural and multilingual state like Jammu & Kashmir, such occasions bring people closer and also bring joy and happiness to the society.

Secretary Sports Council, Waheed ur Rehman Parra, who was also present on the occasion, greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Lohri. In his message, he said that festivals are an important component of our composite cultural heritage and tradition which strengthen bonds of harmony and brotherhood and hoped that the people of state would celebrate this festival with love, affection and religious fervour.

On the occasion, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages performed different cultural programmes that carry message of peace, harmony and brotherhood.
