Kupwara hosts workshop on ‘Solid Waste Management'

KUPWARA: Solid Waste Management (SWM) team from Banglore along with CM's Office Grievance cell in collaboration with district administration Kupwara today organized a day-long workshop on ‘Solid Waste Management', here.

During the workshop, the experts urged upon all stakeholders to avoid throwing the garbage and other wastes on roads, rivers-banks nallas, natural water bodies. The matters related to use of polythene, and soil waste management were also discussed and the experts also gave some suggestions to tackle pollution menace in the rural and urban areas by initiating concerted steps, including disposing-off the garbage and all kinds of wastes in a scientific manner.

Experts from CM's Grievance Cell Kupwara also informed the gathering about the number of measures that have been taken so far and also shared the ones that are to be taken in future about the solid waste management.

The expert of Solid Waste Management from Banglore Ram Parshad along with Nodal Officer CM's Grievance Cell and district level officers also participated in the workshop.

During the workshop, it was given out that the wet solid waste can be used for domestic purposes, while the dry bio-degradable waste would be treated on scientific lines. For the purpose, the gathering was informed, treatment plants need to be established, both in rural and urban areas of the district.

The Nodal Officer CM's Grievance Cell Tahir Mohi-u- Din, CPO Kupwara Imtiyaz Ahmad and departmental experts participated in the day-long session.
