District Administration Samba celebrates first Lohri of new born girls at Ghagwal

SAMBA: The District Administration today organised a colourful function titled "Kudiyan Di Lohri" at Government High School Ghagwal to celebrate first Lohri of new born girls from Ghagwal and Rajpura tehsils.

The function was attended by Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of OBCs, Rashpaul Verma , MLA Kuldeep Raj , DDC Sheetal Nanda , SDM Ghagwal Narayan Dutt Sharma, DSWO and Nodal officer BBBP Shafqat Majeed Bhat, district officers and local community members.

The Vice Chairman and MLA felicitated parents of babies and presented Lohri gifts to them. Rashpaul Verma appreciated the district administration for taking the campaign to the grassroot level for effective implementation.

The MLA highlighted the achievements of women at various levels in different fields. He emphasized upon giving due attention towards protection and education of girl child and referred to number of lady officers working in the sub-division as role model for society.

Earlier, religious preachers also gave sermons about significance of protecting and educating girl child.

Different Cultural programmes were also presented by Katal and group and other artists from the district on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao theme.
