Kanwal Sports enter QFs of Christmas Cup

JAMMU: Kanwal Sports Anantnag today qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing 11th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by All J&K Christian Welfare Association, at GGM Science College ground, here.

In the pre-quarterfinal, Kanwal Sports defeated one of the top clubs of Jammu, Vijay Club 4-2 via tie-breaker.

Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, Param Football Club (FC) beat Young Hero's 1-0. It was in the 40th minute when Param FC took the first lead through Amritpal Singh, which they maintained and emerged winner.

Since the game was neck to neck, it led to foul play from both the sides. It resulted into punishment in the shape of yellow cards to Gagandeep Singh (FC), Pawandeep Singh (Young Hero's) and goalkeeper Aman Manathia (Param FC).

Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Suresh Gupta, Dheeraj Meenia, Romesh Kumar, Rocky Sharma, Ricky Kumar, Sanjay, Hilal Ahmed and Mohinder Kalsi.
