Sprawling Buds felicitates medal winner Climbing

JAMMU: Continuing its tradition of honoring sport climbers who bring laurels to the state, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu felicitated the state team for their performance in the National Sport Climbing Championship at Indore winning eight medals, including two gold and two silver.

The Chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Rahul Sharma while congratulating the climbers for their good showing at the National competition, exhorted them to start preparations in right earnest right now with an eye to win the next National Championship and also aim for selection in the forthcoming Asian Games and the Tokyo Olympics.

He promised that the school would provide all the required facilities and sponsorship for the deserving climbers and announced a 10 days coaching camp for the climbers starting from 12th January, 2018.

Shawetica Khajuria, joint secretary of the Association, who is also a member of Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) North Zone Committee and an International Judge of Sport Climbing, who was the Manager of the State team, disclosed that the new look J&K team missed a couple of medals because of inexperience and lack of exposure to the big event.

General secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria disclosed that the matter regarding financial and technical support and proper training to the talented sport climbers so as to nurture them for international competitions was under active consideration of J&K State Sports Council.

Prominent among others present were Ramesh Khajuria, Director of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Sonam Sidharth, an executive member of the Association, Shashi Sharma, trainer of the state team, Sunil Chakharia and Satish Bhan.
