Valley girl wins bronze J&K in National Taekwondo

JAMMU: Afreen from Kashmir Valley was the lone medal (bronze) medal winner from J&K in the just concluded 37th National Junior Taekwondo Championship at Bilaspur in Chattisgarh. She took part in the competition under the banner of J&K Taekwondo Association.

Afreen has already won gold in the CBSE Nationals and a bronze in the SGFI under -19 last year, a handout issued by the Association here today informed.

Another Valley girl, Shah Bareera won two fights and lost in quarterfinals. In all, a 19-member state team took part in the Junior Nationals with coach, Atul Pangotra and trainer Rohit Sharma.

The Team: Atul Manhas , Pushpkant, Narayan ,Pawan, Ravleen Kour, Amar, Ajay Kumar, Amandeep, Rakesh Singh, Muslim Khan , Rayees Beigh, Agreema Sharma, Afreen Hyder, Shah Bareera Fatima , Farzana Batool, Ishan Pandoh , Karan Pangotra and Malvika Gupta.

Meanwhile, the medal winner, Afreen along with coach, Atul called on the Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, Waheed ur Rehman, who patted the young girl from Valley.
