CII T-20 Corporate Cricket League: J&K Police, HDFC Bank register first win

JAMMU: Magnificent 45 runs off just 32 balls by Rakesh Koul guided J&K Police to registered win over Media XI in the ongoing CII T-20 Corporate Cricket League, being played at KC Sports Club Ground, here today.

The CII T-20 Corporate Cricket League is being organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Batting first, J&K Police scored 152 runs with the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Rakesh was the top scorer for J&K Police with 45 runs, while Jagteshwar Singh scored 40 runs. For Media XI, Faheem Tak took 4 wickets, while Ashu and Amit scalped one wicket each.

Media XI were restricted by J&K Police at a total of 122 and won the match by 30 runs. Sunil Bali was the top scorer with 59 runs for Media XI.

For J&K Police, Raman deep bowled well and scalped 2 wickets, while Rakesh Koul took 1 wicket.

On the valedictory function, Rahul Sahai, Chairman CII J&K State Council and Rajesh Gill, Former Ranji Player presented Man of the Match trophy to Rakesh Koul for his splendid batting performance.

Sahai specially thanked HDFC Bank, Media and KC Sports club for their support in organizing the CII Corporate Cricket Tournament.

In another low scoring match, HDFC Bank defeated Vodafone XI by 7 wickets. Batting first Vodafone XI scored just 71 runs and were all out in 18.1 overs. HDFC Bank easily chased the target in 11th over with the loss of just 3 wickets. Waseem Mir bowled exceptionally well and took 4 wickets by giving away just 5 runs in 3.1 overs. He was declared man of the match.

CII, keeping up with its promise to promote sports in J&K is organizing the first edition of CII Corporate Cricket League. 10 teams from Corporate Sector, Banks and Government Departments are competing for the title trophy, said Rahul Sahai, Chairman CII J&K State Council.
