State Wushu meet gets underway

JAMMU: Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Wush Association, the 14th State Wushu Championship got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today. The event was declared open by Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, Waheed Ur Rehman Para.

Over 1000 participants from 20 districts of the state are expected to compete for the top honours in this competition representing Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag,Bandipora, Kulgam, Kupwara, Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi, Leh, Kargil and Doda.

Speaking to the gathering, as per a handout issued by the Association, the secretary promised to establish a Wushu Academy in J&K in near future.
