Men from different faiths ‘Saving Lives' in Ramban

An appreciative initiative has been taken by the locals of Ramban district as they have created a team by the name "Quick Reaction Team" for saving the precious lives of accident victims in Ramban and surrounding areas.

The purpose of this whole team effort is to extend immediate help in shifting a road accident victim to the hospital. In today's era, people hardly come forward to the aid of the distressed accident victims owing to litigation and police questioning. Keeping in consideration all the above factors, the Quick Reaction Team was formed by Mohammad Arif Wani, Rajkumar Anand, Raj Singh, Jaspal Singh, Parvez Iqbal etc. The team comprised people from different faiths sharing one platform for a noble cause.

Training programmes

The then SSP Ramban Mubassir Latifi helped in bringing all the members together to form an efficient team of around 30 members who were trained under different programmes (Rock-climbing, diving etc.)to help accident victims. Present SSP Ramban, Mohan Lal also provided wireless sets to the members for reaching to the accident spots and help the victims. The team has undergone rock climbing training etc. under the aegis of HQ 11 Sector, Ramban and Indian Army (12 RR).

The "Quick Reaction Team" has also received ‘Jeevan Raksha Padak', a civilian life saving award from the President of India in the year 2014. Following which, the team extended great help to the victims of disastrous September 2014 floods by providing them food and shelter.

In an attempt to extend security help to the team, two of the 30 members were recruited as SPOs. Recently, the team was felicitated by the DGP S.P. Vaid for their noble work. A cash reward of Rs.1000 along with appreciation certificates were given to all the members of the team.

Work Zones

As of now, the "Quick Reaction Team" handles Patnitop to Banihal belt but recently, the team was immediately rushed to Kishtwar also for helping an accident victim. After meeting DGP S.P.Vaid, the members also raised few concerns and have requested the department to provide a crane to them for pulling accident victims from the depths and saving their lives.

Apart from all this, the team has constituted a group of 100 blood donors that can provide immediate blood to accident victims at any given time.

The "Quick Reaction Team" in collaboration with J&K Police department is doing an amazing work for the distressed accident victims for which Jammu Links News team salute them.
