Stage set for State Volleyball Championship

JAMMU: The organizers of the State Volleyball Championship-Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir-has finalized the arrangements to hold the mega event at district Bandipora in Kashmir Division of the state from September 16 to September 18.

The event is being hosted by the Volleyball Association of Bandipora in collaboration with district administration and financial support of the J&K State Sports Council at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium.

In this three-day event of men section only, 17 teams, representing different districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Samba, Kathua, Jammu, Ramban, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Pulwama, Budgam, Baramulla, Shopian, Bandipora, Kupwara, Kulgam and department side of J&K Police, have confirmed their participation.

Around 250 players/officials shall be part of the event which shall be conducted on league-cum-knockout basis. The organizers have prepared three play fields as per standard specification of Volleyball Federation of India (VFI).

The competition shall be inaugurated at 10.30 am on September 16 at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium Bandipora.

Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Sajad Hussain hoped that such events would help boost the moral of the youth and prove to be a boon to get rid of drug menace.
