Turtuk-II lifts Horse Polo trophy

LEH: Team Turtuk-II clinched the title trophy of the Horse Polo Championship which was organised by Saichen Brigade of the Indian Army at Polo Ground, Turtuk village of Nubra sub-division, here today.

In all, three teams of Tyakshi, Thang and Turtuk took part in this competition. Abdul Manan from Team Turtuk- I adjudged as the ‘Player of the Tournament'.

The main purpose to organize the championship was keep the spirit of Polo alive and to revive the cultural heritage and also to promote traditional sport in the region. The tournament also gave an opportunity to get acquainted with the Balti traditions and culture.

The tournament was presided over by Tyakshi Battalion Commander of the Indian Army. Councilor Gulam Mehadi, Sarpanches, Numberdars, locals and tourists were those present.

On this occasion, locals also experienced a glimpse of Maratha culture through the medium of cultural program.

Speaking on the occasion, Polo promoter, Amin Polo said, "We are always ready to assist as we can to promote cultural and traditional sport of the region."
