Abdul Gani of Punjab wins Thial-Chougan dangal

JAMMU: Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla in Punjab defeated Binda Bishhanpuria of Kapurthala, again in Punjab in the main bout to claim the 112nd Annual Thial-Chougan Dangal title held at Government Middle School Sunal in block Khoon of tehsil Majalta in district Udhampur.

Winner Abdul Gani was awarded with cash prize of Rs 40,000 by chief guest senior BJP leader, Nand Kishore Sharma while runners-up got Rs 25,000.

In all, 44 bouts were decided in this day-long dangal. Dangal was organized by Thial Chougan Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of president, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma.

The SSP Udhampur, Rayees Mohd. Bhat, Tehsildar Majalta, Ved Parkash and president, District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association, Sunil Badyal were guests of honour.

The second main bout won by Kapil of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi who defeated Jagi of Kapurthalla. In third main bout played between Farooq of Sarore and Sachin of Delhi ended in a draw. Another bout between Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu and Inder Paul of Amritsar ended in a draw.

Members and technical officials who helped in the conduct of this dangal included Krishan Kumar, Kewal Kumar Sharma, Kartar Chand, Ravinder Gupta, Kuldeep Singh, Bishan Dass, Rajinder Singh, Mohd. Fareed, Narinder Sharma, Om Parkash Verma and Lochan Singh.
