Hockey tournament for LoC migrants begins at Nowshera

RAJOURI: Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Sub Divisional Administration Nowshera jointly with JK Hockey organized first S. Pritpal Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament, at Boys Secondary School Nowshera, today.

SDM Nowshera, Harbans Sharma inaugurated the tournament and interacted with players. Secretary Rajouri Hockey Amarjeet Singh was also present at the inaugural ceremony.

The tournament is being organized especially for border migrants for stress management and to make them feel connected with the mainstream. "Sports will contribute in effective integration of border migrants with rest of the society besides acting as an important tool of stress management," SDM said.

Pertinent to mention here that due to heavy shelling from across the Line of Control in Nowshera Sub Division on civilians, around 3361 inhabitants have been shifted to make-shift camps for more than a month and administration is putting in every effort for their safe and comfortable stay.

Two matches were played today. In first match Shining Club defeated Zorawar Club by 3/0 goals while in the second match Nowshera Club defeated Seven Star by 7/2 goals.
