Wushu team excels in Junior Nationals

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir won three medals in the recently held 15th Junior National Wushu Championship at Pune in Maharashtra. The team participated in the event under the banner of J&K Wushu Association.

On their return, the medal winner players along with officials called on the Secretary State Sports Council, Wahid Parray, who appreciated the achievers. Now, these medal winners shall be attending the India camp prior to Indian team's participation in the Junior Asian Championship to be held in Korea.

While Karan Sumbriya and Haqeek Ahmed bagged silver medal in 52 kg and 45 kg respectively, Riyaz Chibber had to contain with a bronze in 60 kg category. Pankaj Kumar accompanied the state team as Coach.

The Secretary congratulated Wushu Association for the achievement. The Secretary was also informed about the Sub Junior state team winning the five medals in October last.

Among those, who accompanied the medal winners were Vijay Saraf, Ranjeet Kalra and Kuldeep Handoo.

Meanwhile, as per a handout issued by the Association, the coaching camp for senior national championship to be held at Ranchi, shall commence from January two.
