While Jammu's reputation as a fashion destination is not that well established but one organisation that is destined to change that fashion portrayal is JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Jammu which is a well-established name in the vogue trail and has surely emerged as a centre of fashion in the city. Giving Jammu a world class fashion show in 2014, JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Jammu is back with a bang and is once again all set to bring burgeoning fashion scene to the city on 28th August 2016, Sunday at The Grand Banquets in Jammu.
Maansi Gupta, Director JD Institute, Jammu centre was very pleased to tell the details of the show. "This is the second time we are doing the show in Jammu. JD Annual design awards is an annual feature of the JD institute, an annual event is a prestigious fashion Award that recognizes the extraordinary design excellence and innovative skills of the graduating students in menswear and women-wear collections. The JD Annual Design Awards Night is a celebration of the culmination of a successful academic year.
"Of the eight years of our existence, we participated six times at Delhi for the awards and did one in Jammu in 2014 and doing it again now. Being lauded for our efforts for the first show as one of the best fashion shows ever put up by Mr. R C Dalal, Executive Director, J D Institute of Fashion Technology, and also by renowned journalist Barkha Dutt and the coverage on various national and local channels, we are more enthused to bring the very best of quality fashion show at par with international standards bringing in the very best of international and other models who will be walking the ramp adorned in collections designed by our students. It will be a prestigious and gratified moment and I am looking forward to the same", she added.
The theme of the JD Annual Design Awards 2016 is ‘Untold Stories' which was conceptualized at the central level of the JD institute keeping with the Government of India's initiative, 'Make in India', where the gen-next designers focused on narrating the untold stories of our artisans, craftsmen and weavers, thus celebrating the rich heritage of our textile and clothing history, which is deeply ingrained in our cultural fabric.
Vandana Jain, a student at JD Institute, Jammu said, "With a success story in its first show itself, the second edition shall witness a differential scale of creative canvas & a new dimension to the fashion and styles collections. I am very excited to be a part of such a high quality event and so eager to see my designs on the ramp".
Loveleen Bhargav another excited student shared, "We are excited to be a part of this prestigious event. JD Annual Design Awards already established itself as a trend setter for many other fashion shows in the country. We are so thankful that it provides a perfect platform to showcase our collections. We all have put in great amount of hard work and with our bespoke selection of collections which are carefully chosen to energise guests with locally-inspired and authentic experiences; I am positive that JD fashion awards will be a huge success".
An experienced jury of experts, representing a who's who of fashion, lifestyle and luxury industry evaluated the collections of the young designers and selected the winners based on their vision, interpretation, innovation, business and creative skills. Divided into various subcategories, the winners will be announced on the day of the show. The jury members included Textile Designer, Varuna Anand from Splendour of Kashmir, Sidharth Bhatia from Bhatia Sons and Osman as well as Sajida from ‘What the fashion'.
The most awaited show of the year is to unveiled on 28th August and the choreographers and the event organisers are keeping their heads down and toiling hard work to make sure it is a huge success. "We proudly announce that it will be highlight event in Jammu. The grand event will boasts of a never seen before experience inspired from the International arena. We are taking charge of everything directing our efforts for the show to perfection", the organisers said.
