Police says Rajouri attacker identified, announces Rs 10 lakh reward for his whereabouts

RAJOURI: J&K Police on Tuesday said they identified the attacker responsible for shooting dead a man Monday night in Kunda village of Rajouri district.

Police identified the perpetrator of the attack by his alias only, which they said is Abu Hamza. They have put a reward of Rs 10,00,000 on him while assuring that the informer's identify would be kept secret.

Hamza as per police has been involved in various terror acts including, "radicalization, recruitment, and terror funding," police said.

On Monday late evening, a Govt employee posted in Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) was shot dead by suspected terrorists in village Kunda Tope near Shahdhara Sharief of Thanamandi police station in Rajouri district.

The terrorists had barged to the house of victim and fired indiscriminately on victim and his brother who is a serving soldier of Indian Army's Territorial Army battalion.

The army soldier Tahir Hussain escaped unhurt as he fled from the site but victim Abdul Razaq, son of Mohammad Akbar was shot dead by suspected terrorists.

Massive Cordon and Search Operation was launched after the incident.

On Tuesday, thousands of people gathered in the area and visited the house of victim offering condolences.

Last rites and Nimaz e Janaza were performed by villagers wherein people condemned the target killing.

Father of victim namely Mohammad Akbar son of Slah Mohammad was killed by terrorists twenty-one years ago. He was Naib Sarpanch of the area at that time.

Razaq was appointed in the social welfare department on compassionate grounds after his father's killing and was working as a junior assistant in the department. Razaq's eldest son is just 15 years old.
