Youth Parliament under SVEEP Campaign held at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: As the SVEEP campaign gains momentum in anticipation of upcoming General Elections-2024, Kishtwar district witnessed a significant stride with hosting of an impressive Youth Parliament at Government Degree College (GDC), here.

The mock Parliament, orchestrated by District Election Office under the leadership of District Election Officer, Dr. Devansh Yadav, in collaboration with SVEEP Nodal Officer Dr. Yasar Ahmed of GDC Kishtwar, and under meticulous supervision of District Nodal Officer SVEEP/Deputy District Election Officer Kishtwar Idrees Lone, showcased a remarkable display of democratic engagement.

ARO 48 Assembly Constituency Kishtwar/ADC Pawan Kotwal on the occasion underscored the importance of youth participation in electoral process.

With over 200 participants, including NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, the Youth Parliament deliberated upon the theme "Social Media and Democracy," mirroring the proceedings of Indian Parliament with fervent debates and discussions.

The event commenced with rendition of National Anthem and a warm welcome address by Prof. Tabassum Saleem.

Accounts Officer DC Office Complex Kishtwar Satinder Singh, District Information Officer Kishtwar Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, BDO Trigam Chandan Manhas, Incharge Principal GDC Prof. Umar Deen, NSS Programme Officers Esar Ul Ayoub, and NCC ANO Prathvi Raj were present on the occasion.

Presentations by NCC and NSS, coupled with engaging debates and captivating Classical Dance/cultural performances , enthralled the youth, imparting valuable lessons on democracy and the rich cultural diversity of the nation.

An open Quiz session on the Parliamentary and constitutional process was also held on the occasion wherein the awards were given away.

The Voter's pledge was also administered to the participants on the occasion.

The chief guest, addressing the Youth Parliament, highlighted the role of Youth in the democratic process and threw light on the significance of voting rights in a healthy democracy.

Other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion. Besides, the participants were also blessed with certificates encouraging and appreciating their participation in the proceeding of Youth Parliament.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Professor Dr. Sehrish Gazal, reaffirming the commitment to uphold ethical voting practices and foster awareness about the Right to Vote among the youth of GDC Kishtwar.
