KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan Tuesday took an extensive tour of various areas of district Kupwara to assess the situation after incessant heavy rainfall in the district.
During the tour, the DC inspected the River Front on Lolab Nallah at Helpal that was damaged due to overnight flash floods. She asked the concerned officers for immediate repairs of the Nallah to prevent any untoward incident.
In the Kalaroose block, the DC inspected Sarkoli-Hajibal Bridge which got damaged during the heavy rainfall, and directed the concerned department for its immediate repairs. She also visited Madmadow and Nagsari villages of the block and took stock of the post flash flood situation.
Meanwhile, the DC directed ACD Kupwara to immediately visit Nagsari area of Kalaroose block to personally monitor the restoration work of public infrastructure.
She also took stock of ongoing Sarkoli-Paraypora road widening project and directed the officers of PMGSY to further strengthen the protection wall alongside the road, keeping in view the landslide prone nature of the area.
The DC said that immediate steps for temporary restoration of the public infrastructure including bridges and roads have been taken up by the District Administration to ensure that no area remains cut off.
She said that the Tehsildars have already been directed to report the damages caused if any to the personal properties of the people to provide them intermediate relief as per Government guidelines.
She said that fortunately no incident of loss of lives have been reported in the district and appealed to the people especially living in flood prone areas to take utmost precautionary measures by avoiding venturing in and around rivers during heavy rains to prevent any untoward incident.
During her extensive tour, the DC paid a surprise visit to Health & Wellness Centre Sarkoli and inspected its functioning.
The DC also interacted with various deputations of people during the visit who apprised her about their problems and issues due to heavy rainfall. She heard them patiently and assured of every possible support from the District Administration in resolving their genuine issues. |
