GDC Mahanpur hosts ‘Sanskrit Shloka and Dogri Poem Recitation' program at Village Rehalta

KATHUA: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Mahanpur, in collaboration with the Department of Sanskrit and Department of Dogri, organized a special cultural programme titled ‘Sanskrit Shloka Recitation and Dogri Poem Recitation' in Rehalta Village.

The event took place on the third day of the NSS Winter Camp, which commenced on March 13 and runs for a week.

Organized under the supervision of NSS Programme Officer Prof. Rupalee Jasrotia, along with Dr. Mohinder (HOD Department of Sanskrit) and Dr. Anil (HOD Department of Dogri), the programme aimed to promote the richness and significance of Sanskrit and Dogri languages among the local community.

This initiative was carried out under the guidance of Principal of the College, Dr. Sangeeta Sudan.

The NSS Volunteers actively participated in the programme by reciting poems and shlokas in front of the villagers. They not only showcased their linguistic talents but also elucidated the meanings and contexts of the poems and shlokas, enhancing the audience's understanding and appreciation.

Dr. Mohinder and Dr. Anil spoke about the origin, meaning, scope and importance of Sanskrit and Dogri languages, respectively, emphasizing their cultural and literary value.

The participants of the programme included Monika, Kanta Thakur, Shitu Devi, Isha Devi, Ajay Sindooria, and Sunil Kumar, representing different semesters. The presence of all NSS Volunteers added to the vibrancy of the event.

Among the distinguished faculty members present were Dr. Balbinder Singh, Dr. Sudesh, Dr. Sapna, Nisha, Dr. Nishu, Dr. Hilal, Dr. Ajay, Dr. Anil, Dr. Suman, and Dr. Sardar Bhatti, who encouraged and supported the participants throughout the programme.
