Financial Literacy Workshop Empowers Youth at GDC Basholi

KATHUA: The Department of Economics Government Degree College Basholi, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Nidhi Kotwal, in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Market (NISM) and AXIS Bank organized a two-day workshop on Financial Literacy for Youth.

Led by Dr. Neha Bandral, Head of the Department of Economics, the workshop featured Prof. Nishant Narang, Assistant Professor at GDC Jawali, Himachal Pradesh, as the keynote speaker and resource person.

Prof. Narang, a certified Securities Market Trainer by SEBI, delivered insightful sessions over the two days.

Highlights of the workshop included sessions covering saving and investment strategies, insights into the primary and secondary markets, investing in Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs), and understanding mutual funds.

Participants also learned about complaint redressal systems and explored career opportunities in the securities market.

The workshop, attended by sixty students from various disciplines, concluded with remarks from Principal GDC Basholi, emphasizing the importance of financial knowledge and independence for long-term success.

Senior faculty members, including Prof. Jasvinder Singh, Prof. Shub Kumar Sharma, Prof. Roshan Lal, Dr. Neeraj Balgotra, Dr. Ujala Sharma, and Dr. Vaishno Devi, were also present to support the event.

The program concluded with the facilitation of Prof. Nishant Narang and a fruitful interaction session between students and faculty.
