FDP on "Skill Development" commences at CUJ

JAMMU: The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Central University of jammu is set to host a comprehensive Faculty Development Program (FDP) from 12th to 21st March, 2024 under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain.

It is designed to offer an in-depth orientation and sensitization on Skill Development, this FDP aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020's objectives.

Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, was the chief guest in the inaugural session. He highlighted the University's commitment to implementation and promoting skill development in contemporary education. In light of the dynamic nature of teaching-learning pedagogy, skill development of faculty in all disciplines is the highest priority of our University, he added.

Dr. Neelika Arora, Director of UGC-MMTTC, Central University of jammu, in her welcome address, informed that this FDP program is the fourth in the series that the centre is slated to offer.

The FDP program includes 130 faculty members from various educational institutions across India, She informed that the MMTTC is designed to implement the key changes to the current higher education system to revamp and reenergize it and thereby deliver high-quality higher education with equity and inclusion.

Dr. Akshay Kumar, Deputy Director of UGC-MMTTC, Central University of jammu presented a brief introduction about the theme of FDP. He informed that the eminent experts from different universities across the country will be conducting the session during the next eight days.

The inaugural session was conducted by Ms. Karishma Rana. While presenting a formal vote of Thanks, Dr. Amit Gangotia, Program Coordinator,emphasised on the need of this FDP.

Subsequently the formal inaugural, Dr. Mahendra Singh, Program Coordinator welcome and introduce the eminent resource person for the first session Prof. Pankaj Kumar Mishra, Pro Vice Chancellor, Glocal University, who deliver talk on Bridging Skill Gaps with the NEP and unveiling job skills for 2024, to the participants.

The FDP is spearheaded by an energetic organizing team that aims to enrich educators with a nuanced understanding of skill development and its integration within the current educational framework.

Dr. Neelika Arora, Director of UGC-MMTTC at the university, leads the initiative alongside Dr. Akshay Kumar, the Deputy Director, Dr.Mahendra Singh and Dr. Amit Gangotia, Program Coordinators, have been instrumental in shaping the program's structure and content.

The FDP is a significant step towards realizing the objectives of NEP 2020, which emphasizes the incorporation of skill development in the education system.
