Gandhi Nagar Hospital selected as IAPC training centre, Dr Lahori as faculty

JAMMU: Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar (Jammu) has been selected as the designated centre by Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) to provide hands on training as a part of IAPC certificate course of Palliative Care Pharmacy.

The Hospital has become the first centre in J&K to provide hands on training in Palliative Care Pharmacy to doctors and nurses. Further, Dr Rohit Lahori, the Incharge of the Pain and Palliative Care Centre at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar has also been selected as the national faculty of the IAPC.

Palliative care is the care of patients suffering from terminal illnesses and it focusses on different aspects of management of these patients including physical, social, behavioral and spiritual. Pain management is the integral part of Palliative care.

Pertinent to mention here that Dr Lahori is also the president of the IAPC chapter of J&K and is organizing secretary of the upcoming first international conference of Palliative care in J&K (IAPCON 25) to be held at AIIMS Jammu. It will be attended by faculty and delegates around the globe and will bring J&K on the international map of Pain and Palliative Care.
