NEW DELHI: An IndiGo passenger who was supposed to take a flight to Patna from Delhi landed in Udaipur on January 30.

The passenger, identified as Afsar Hussain, had booked a ticket for Patna from Delhi via IndiGo flight 6E-214 but ended up boarding the 6E-319 flight to Udaipur.

The mix-up reportedly happened when he mistakenly took the wrong airport shuttle bus and ended up in the one meant for the passengers taking the flight to Udaipur.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has sought a report from IndiGo on the matter.

"We are seeking a report into the matter and appropriate action will be taken against the airline," a DGCA official was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.

The DCGA seeks to find out why the passenger's boarding pass was not scanned thoroughly when there is a rule in place which requires the passes to be checked at two points before final boarding.

Afsar Hussain only realised what happened after he landed at Udaipur Airport and he immediately alerted the officials there.

According to sources, IndiGo flew him back to Delhi on the same day and then to Patna on January 31.

In a statement released on Friday, IndiGo said they are engaged with the authorities on the matter.
