Armed force Flag day celebrated at Pulwama

PULWAMA: A function presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pulwama, Dr Abdul Aziz Sheikh was today held at DC Office Complex here to commemorate 'Armed Forces Flag Day'.

It is worth mentioning here that observing Flag Day has become tradition to honour the martyrs of defence forces, soldiers and this day reminds of the environment in contributing for the welfare of their affected families by donation.

Speaking on the occasion, ADDC said that 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day to remind all of us to express gratitude towards our soldiers, sailors and airmen of India. He said the day gains more significance as it is the responsibility of the civilian population to take care of the families and dependents of the armed forces personnel who fight for the country.

Dr Aziz asserted that the need of the hour is to increase the contribution through various means for Ex-Servicemen. He also assured that Zila Sanik Officer should be provided all support from the District Administration.

District Treasury officer who is also the Nodal officer for the commemoration of Flag day informed that all DDOs have been apprised to sensitise their employees about the voluntary contribution of 200 rupees for Gazetted and 100 rupess for non gazetted officials.

Program Officer, ICDS, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Information Officer and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
