ANANTNAG: A blood donation camp was today organized by District Red Cross Society in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, GMC Anantnag and District Administration Anantnag to commemorate National Blood Donor day under the theme "Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives" at Dak Bungalow, here.
The blood donation camp was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC termed the act of blood donation an act of solidarity and a service to mankind and most important activity under the Ratdaan Amrit Mahotsav being observed from 17th September and culminating today.
He appreciated the donors for such an act and exhorted all people to donate blood and asked them to make themselves aware of the benefits of blood donations.
He also stressed on spreading awareness among the public regarding blood donation and debunking myths associated with it besides directing the health team to check all medical formalities of donors before donating.
Volunteers from across the district thronged the camp and donated blood besides the college students, CRPF personnel and JKP personnel donated blood. 85 points of blood were donated.
The camp was attended by ADC, doctors from GMC, officials from civil administration, Red Cross officials and officials of various departments besides the volunteers of various social organizations. |
