DDC Chairperson inaugurates Job Fair at Ramban

Pvt. Employers shortlist 595 youth after interview

RAMBAN: District Employment and Counselling Centre (E&CC), in collaboration with District Administration, Ramban today organized a Job Fair to provide job opportunities to the youth of the district in different agencies.

Chairperson, District Development Council, Ramban, Dr. Shamshad Shan inaugurated the Job Fair in presence of the President, Municipal Council, Ramban, Sunita Sumbria and the officers of district administration.

The Job fair witnessed the participation of reputed private employers from different sectors for the placement of the eligible aspirants. The Government Departments also set up stalls to promote self-employment Schemes among the youth.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairperson lauded the efforts of the administration for arranging a meeting of job seekers and employers in one place.

The Chairperson raised the concerns of unemployed persons and urged the participating companies to engage maximum youth to give a boost to their career.

She also appealed to the unemployed youth to opt for self-employment and become entrepreneurs to generate livelihood for themselves and others as well. She said that the Government was committed to extend a hand-holding to the youth under the ambitious Mission Youth Programme.

Later, Assistant Director Employment, DE&CC Ramban Dr Sushant Mahajan impressed upon the Employers and Job seekers to register themselves on the Employment Portal of Govt. Of Jammu & Kashmir by visiting www.jakemp.nic.in. He also advised the job seekers to get the information regarding various self Employment Schemes of the line departments whose stalls were installed in the Job fair.

Around 11 employers, including SBI Life, Jamkash Trucking, New Chenab Enterprises among others participated in the event.

The event witnessed an overwhelming response from job seekers as over 1500 unemployed youth/jobseekers from across the district participated in the event. Around 595 youth were shortlisted by the participating companies, while 20 selections were made on-the-spot and more than 317 candidates were also registered.

The unemployed youth expressed gratitude to the District Employment and Counseling Centre, Ramban for organizing the job fair and bringing employers to their doorsteps.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson also handed over the keys of the Load Carrier vehicles to beneficiaries of the MUMKIN Scheme.
