Youth active on social media found dead under mysterious circumstances

UDHAMPUR: A youth active on social media and highly critical of some local politicians, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the roadside at Pul Madha Chenani near Prem Bar on old National Highway.

According to the police report, Vicky Badgotra, alias Vicky Sharma alias Vanshu (30), son of Hans Raj Sharma, resident of Rown Domail Udhampur, was found dead this morning around 8:30 am at Pul Madha Chenani near Prem Bar under mysterious circumstances.

On being informed, a Police party led by SDPO Chenani, Ahmad Shaafi, reached the spot and shifted the dead body to Sub District Hospital Chenani where a Board of Doctors conducted postmortem. An FSL team also visited the spot where the dead body was found and took samples for investigation.

Death of Vanshu under mysterious circumstanced spread like wild fire as the deceased was very active on social media and highly critical of some local politicians.

Family members of the deceased and some locals alleged that Vanshu had been murdered and they held a strong protest demonstration blocking the road at Rown Domail Chock. They demanded that the two youth with whom the deceased had gone in a car last night should be arrested and interrogated so that the truth may come out.

Later Incharge Police Post, Rown Domail, Akhilesh Khajuria reached the spot and pacified the protesters assuring necessary action after which the Police detained two friends of the deceased, with whom he had gone last night. Police also seized the Verna car, bearing registration number JK14C-7006, in which the trio had travelled from Udhampur to Chenani.

According to Police sources, the arrested youth, namely Puran Singh alias Sunny of Thanda Padder and Anil Sharma of Battal Ballian, who have been handed over to the Chenani Police, revealed that the trio had consumed liquor and gone to Chenani where the deceased left them after they did not allow him to drive the car as he was heavily drunk.

Police is verifying the claims of arrested youth with the CCTV footage of the areas where the deceased was last seen and the spot where the dead body was lying. Further investigations into the case under Section 174 CrPC are going on.
