KUPWARA: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kupwara today organised an awareness camp on Anti Ragging Regulations at Govt. Degree College Handwara.
The programme was organised in pursuance of Calendar of Activities of J&K Legal Services Authority for the month of August, 2022 which required such activities to be conducted in collaboration with schools and colleges.
The programme was chaired by Secretary DLSA Kupwara, Muzamil Ahmad Wani and Advocate Ghulam Nabi Khan was nominated as resource person for the programme.
The Secretary DLSA Kupwara in his speech mentioned the importance of awareness among the students and college administration including teaching faculty on the growing menace of ragging and highlighted various judgments and recommendations of the Supreme Court of India. He impressed upon the college management to develop an effective mechanism for dealing with the problem at an earliest.
He said that the institutions have a primary and central responsibility to curb the menace and ensure no student is harassed, threatened or insulted in any manner by ragging throughout his/her journey of education.
On the occasion, Resource Person and the students spoke extensively on the topic.
After the programme, a brief interaction with the students was also held. The faculty members of the college thanked DLSA Kupwara for choosing the college as a venue and requested for conducting such events in future also. |
