JAMMU: Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Professor of Urdu University of Jammu was today honoured by the Department of Arabic, Persian & Urdu of Madras University, Chennai for his contribution to language & literature.

A momento & a shawl was presented to Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik by Prof. Qazi Habib Ahmed, HOD Arabic, Persian & Urdu Madras University.

During the function, titled "An Evening with Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik." Was organized in a simple but impressive function which was attended by Urdu poets & writers of Chennai.

The reputed scholars, researchers & poets of Chennai including Kaleem Saba Navidi grace the occasion as Chief Guest.While introducing Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik to the audience, Prof. Habib Ahmed in detail threw light on the literary works of Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik.

He informed that Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik is a senior Professor of Urdu throughout India who had written about 21 books in Urdu.

He has also organized a number of Urdu international seminars at Jammu University & has brought laurel to Jammu University by attending international conferences in different parts of the world.

He has visited Egypt, Pakistan, UK, Bangladesh & Mauritius in connection with the promotion of the Urdu language & literature.

Prof. Habib Ahmed further informed that Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik is a well-known name in Urdu, who always bravely fought for the rights of the Urdu language & literature.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik has written 100 Articles which have been published in international & national journals of Urdu literature & language.

He is associated with different Urdu NGOs in the country as well as J&K. Many Government organizations & NGOs have honoured Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik for his work in Urdu.

Presently, he is the General Secretary of All India University Urdu Teachers in Association.

On this occasion, an Urdu Mushaira was also organized in honour of Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik where prominent poets of Chennai recite their poetic works. Besides, Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik release a book titled "Urdu in Tamil Nadu" which is written by Prof. Habib Ahmed.
